The Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) scheme is designed to help small businesses reduce their Business Rate bill. |
- Qualifying properties with a rateable value of not more than £12,000 (previously £6000) will be entitled to 100% relief |
- Qualifying properties with a rateable value of more than £12,000 but less than £15,000 ( previously more than £6,000 but less than £12,000 ) will have relief calculated on a sliding scale, a tapered relief of between 100% and 0%, reducing to nil at £15,000 |
- Qualifying properties with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000 (previously between £12,000 and £18,000) will not have a percentage relief but will have their demand calculated using the small business rate relief multiplier |
This relief is only available to ratepayers who apply to their local authority and who occupy either: |
(a) one property, or |
(b) one main property and other additional properties providing those additional properties each have a rateable value which does not exceed £2,899. |
The rateable value of the property mentioned in (a), or the aggregate rateable value of all properties mentioned in (b), must not exceed £19,999 on each day for which relief is being sought. If the rateable value, or aggregate rateable value, increases above those levels, relief will cease from the day of the increase |
Please note that relief will only be granted on one property. |
It is a criminal offence to give false information when making an application for Small Business Rate Relief. Also, you should notify Sefton Council Business Rates section if your circumstances change after submitting this application. If your circumstances change, for example if you are no longer entitled to the relief as you occupy more than one property in England, you must contact the Business Rates section within 4 weeks of the change. Failure to do so will result in your relief being cancelled from the day of the change. Should you still be entitled to the relief, it will only be reapplied from the day that Sefton Council is notified of the change in circumstances. |
The information submitted may be held on computer. If so, it will be subject to the provision of the Data Protection Act 1998. It will be checked against other information held and may also be used to amend the Council Tax and Benefit records |
